exactly 5 years ago, in 2007, April 12th was a Thursday. and April 13th was a Friday. Friday the 13th. this past weekend, the days and dates were the same as they were my junior year of high school. little similarities and congruencies like these make me so happy.
this April's Friday the 13th, might beat 2007's April Friday the 13th.
partly because mom grounded me that Friday 5 years ago... but mostly because this Friday, i picked up my grad check, meaning i'll officially be DONE April 27th. :)
and also because these things happened:
Peter informed me that the big, green, leafy thing that stares me in the face everyday on my way to class is a mulberry tree. i'm embarrassed to admit that i had never tasted a mulberry before last friday. nor was i aware of their existence, really. and now, they're my new favorite fruit.
so of course, Peter climbed the tree to search for the sweetest little mulberries. and he very proudly continued to hand me his findings, pleased with himself for introducing me to something that i now adore :)
and then we perched ourselves on Landis for some reading in the breeze.
well truthfully, that only lasted for .06 seconds. because, you see, in the picture above, peter was really feasting his eyes on a frisbee. and being the puppy he is, he wanted to play with it.
so he made friends and played frisbee for a while, as i read about sustainability and watched the boys play. and then the puppy was hungry, so we went home and made a quiche.
while the quiche was cooking, peter and i shared a beer called Wilco Tango Foxtrot (WTF). i found it at New Leaf right after i quit my job at Pockets. the description, "a malty, robust, jobless recovery ale", was just too good to pass up.
"We're not quite in the Red, or in the Black... Does that mean we're in the Brown?!"
i think it does... but a bit of swinging makes that easily forgotten. momentarily at least.
it was a nearly flawless Friday the 13th.
